Professors Giovanni Boniolo, Gennaro Ciliberto and Alessandro Pagnini are pleased to invite Ph.D. students and post-docs to the first Summer School on Humanities for the Life Sciences (HLS).
This school is co-organised by UNISER and FISV (Italian Federation of Life Sciences) held in beautiful Pistoia, in Tuscany, and has the goal of introducing biomedical students and post-docs to the concepts of ethics, epistemology, methodology, and philosophy of science, through an intensive high-level training. In addition to participating in the first school dedicated to why and how humanities matter for life sciences, participants will have the great opportunity not only to meet some of the major scholars in the field but also to interact with them on a daily basis, during dedicated discussion sessions. Participants will be also encouraged to discuss case studies that they might have encountered during their professional experience.
At the end of the school participants will have gained an in-depth knowledge of the nature of their scientific work and of the methodology that defines it, as well as of its limits.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Pistoia! The Organisers
